In Québec, the level of breastfeeding is around 72% at birth, 47% at 3
months. This is for hospital births, where 98% of women give birth. For the
moment, midwives ( newly legalized in 1999) are working exclusively in
Birthing centers, so it is midwife-led care. Full autonomy ( right to
prescribe, following pregnancy, normal birth and mothers and babies up to
6-8 wks after). The level of bresatfeeding at birth is 98%,
