<p><b><font size="3">Thank you for considering submission of an abstract
to the Research in Midwifery and Perinatal Health Conference.</font></b></p>
<p><b><font size="3">These guidelines are intended to assist you to submit
your abstract in a way that will ensure efficient and effective peer
review and clear communication of your work. If selected, your abstract
will be reproduced in the conference proceedings exactly as submitted,
so please adhere to the guidelines.</font></b></p>
<p><b>1.</b> Please submit your abstract electronically as an email attachment
or on a floppy disc using the format published <a href="abstractsubmissionform.doc">here</a>
as a word document.</p>
<p><b>2.</b> Type the abstract, using at least 10 pitch font size, single
spaced, with two spaces between paragraphs. Your abstract should not
exceed 300 words. </p>
<p><b>3.</b> Please include in your text - the title of the presentation,
authors, organisational affiliation where relevant and contact details,
sources of funding (if any) and issues for discussion.</p>
<p><b>4.</b>If your paper focuses on clinical research: please include
details of background, design, sample selection, methods, data<br>
collection, data analysis and state whether the study is complete or
on-going.</p>
<p><b>5.</b> If your paper focuses on a methodological issue: please include
a description of the issues being investigated, some of the background
research/literature. Please summarise any key methodological issues
you wish to consider.</p>
<p><b>6.</b> If the research has already been completed, include results,
further research questions, how to use findings in practice or to define
policy. If the research has not yet been completed please indicate when
the results will be available.</p>
<p><br>
<b>7.</b> All completed abstracts will be reviewed by 3 scientific assessors
(one member of the Conference Scientific Committee and two external
reviewers) using pre-specified criteria. (See the reviewers assessment
forms on this website).</p>
<p><b>8.</b> The Scientific Committee for the Conference will consider
all abstracts submitted and the results of the scientific review for<br>
each at a meeting in early March. Following this, everyone who has submitted
an abstract will be notified whether or not they are to be invited to
present at the Conference on 11th June 2003.</p>
<p><b>9.</b> Please indicate if you would like to consider taking up the
option of poster presentation.</p>
<p><b>10.</b> Please ensure that all details are complete; incomplete
submissions cannot be considered. Abstracts must be submitted by Friday
31 January 2003.</p>
