Hi Soo,
I am undertaking research for my PhD on a Mid Career Award from PPP
Foundation on the assessment of progress in labour by midwives. This has a
focus on midwives developing learning about assessment as a result of
engaging in intrapartum care. There is one publication from this study:
Sookhoo ML & Biott C (2002) Learning at Work: midwives judging progress in
labour, Learning in Health and Social Care, 1, 2, 75-85.

Subject: review of midwifery expertise: query
Dear all,
I am contacting you to ask if anyone knows of any on-going or completed (but
unpublished) research which is specifically focused on the area of midwifery
expertise during labour and birth? We are in the process of undertaking a
systematic review in this area, and we have only identified one paper for
inclusion so far. We would be very grateful for any leads in this area.
Many thanks
Soo Downe, Katriona Trafford, Louise Simpson
