Application of operational research models/techniques has been extensively
used in solving the logistics problems in food industry. In today’s
logistics environment, food industries are calling for immediate action on
implementing systems, developing algorithms, intelligent methods and
methodologies that will lead to faster transactions, reduced operating
costs and improved performance, work flows and customer service and will
strive for more control, visibility, and flexibility in their logistics
operations such as production planning and scheduling, warehousing,
distribution and transportation.
This special issue offers the opportunity to present theoretical
contributions, to report innovative ideas and practical results in real-
life applications, and to shape future directions for research. Empirical
field observations, survey research leading to original and significant
conclusions, or application papers in the above areas are also welcome.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
•Fleet Management
•Inventory Management
•Service Network Design
•Location Problems
•Transportation Planning
•Warehousing Systems Control and Planning
•e-Supply Chain Management
•Reverse Logistics
•Information Management in Logistics Systems
