Department of History and Philosophy of Science
Two-Year Lectureship in Philosophy and Biomedical Ethics
We intend to appoint a philosopher who will focus on topics in biomedical
ethics and other areas of philosophy affected by advances in our knowledge
of genetics. An interest in normative issues that arise in public health,
public policy and genetics would be a considerable advantage. While based
in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science as a teacher and
researcher, 40% of the postholder's time will be devoted to policy analysis
and educational programmes for the Centre for Medical Genetics and Policy,
based at the Cambridge Genetics Knowledge Park.
The post is unestablished and will be for two years. The successful
applicant will take up appointment on 1 October 2004. The scale of stipends
is £23,296-£35,950 (pay award pending) depending on experience.
