I am writing a textbook on how to read and interpret research papers in life
sciences, and am looking for example papers to illustrate the following:
1. use of particular methods for particular reasons;
2. inadequate use of controls;
3. deviation from the specified method and consequences thereof;
4. poor use of quantitative analysis;
5. hidden assumptions.
Ideally, examples should be simple enough to be understood by students of
more or less any biological science.
If anyone can suggest references to papers that I might use as examples, I'd
be very grateful if they could let me know. I intend to use brief extracts
only, and to keep adverse criticism of individual papers to a minimum.
Thanks you!
