RESEARCHER / WRITER - HISTORICAL WEBSITE
The National Archives is looking to appoint a researcher / writer to produce
some interactive learning features for a historical website. The postholder
will produce three features for online exhibitions on the history of
Citizenship and sources for Black and Asian history in the UK, 1550-1850
(two for Citizenship and one for Black and Asian history). The exhibitions
appear on Pathways to the Past, the National Archives' on-line resource for
life-long learners, and may be seen at www.pro.gov.uk/pathways.
We are looking for someone with historical knowledge, the ability to write
clearly, concisely and accessibly and some knowledge of the web,
particularly interactivity. The successful candidate will work in
conjunction with our web designer to create the structure for the three
learning journeys and produce the text (they will not be carrying out web
design and build).
Ideally we wish to employ the researcher / writer on a 3-month contract,
from mid-May 2003 (but we would be prepared to considered a freelance
arrangement if necessary). We expect the salary will be in the region of
£21,000 p.a. (pro rata). The successful candidate will be based at Kew,
Richmond, Surrey, and report to the Project Manager.
Anyone interested in the post should contact Dr Marion Wallace on
