Elaine,
Choosing an asset management system is never easy and you might do
well to start your searching by reading some of the TASI advice
documents on the subject, these can be found at:
http://www.tasi.ac.uk/advice/delivering/delivering.html
There is a selection of available management systems at:
http://www.tasi.ac.uk/advice/delivering/ims-software.html
The MDA also have a good selection at:
http://www.mda.org.uk/software.htm
When you say for 'online' delivery, will this be for the 'Internet'
or a local 'intranet'?
The demands for intranet use will not be so bad, however for 'Web'
use there will be a host of other questions to consider:
What you want to deliver in terms of size quality?
What bandwidth do you expect your user to have?
What bandwidth can you provide?
Stream or Download?
What format of video to provide?
What digital rights management you wish to implement?
There are very few 'out-of-the-box' answers for this kind of project
and if you are going to successfully deliver video over the Internet,
I suspect you will need to find a reasonable budget. Nearly all
successful implementations of video delivery have required both
dedicated server hardware and a fair amount of programming.
One possible software answer that is both easy and cheap, is Extensis
Portfolio. This will allow the easy delivery of your files through
the Portfolio browser over an intranet. It can also deliver on the
Internet using a server-plugin called PortWeb. The only thing that I
am not completely sure of....is whether PortWeb supports video. The
main program certainly does...but I am not sure about PortWeb.
But I would certainly recommend giving it a look.

hope this is of some help, if you need any further help, please do
not hesitate to contact us.
cheers
eib
