The University, College and Research Group (UCR) London is
pleased to announce that bookings are now open for 'Access
and Acceptability: Library Services for People with Disabilities'.
This seminar will take place on Thursday 24th July
(9.30-1.00) at the Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way,
London WC1H 0AL.
Speakers include:
* Richard Gray, a trainer in Deaf and Disability Awareness and
part-time librarian - talking about overcoming barriers for
people with disabilities,
* Anne McIllwaine - Library Manager SOAS - discussing
the development of a Disability Policy and staff training in a university
library,
* Cathy Phillpotts - Team Leader, Social Sciences, University of
London Library - discussing the challenges, difficulties and
practical considerations of disability in an Non-Departmental
Public Body Special Library (English Heritage).
There will be time allowed for discussion and reflection on
addressing issues of access and the provision of acceptable
services for people in your own libraries.
The charge for this event will be £20 for UCR London members
and £25 for non-members. This charge includes speaker costs
and refreshments.
