SPRIG is pleased to announce that bookings can now be taken online for this
year's Seminar. The 2003 SPRIG seminar, to be held on 25 June, will explore
the topic of information literacy within sport, leisure and tourism. It is aimed at
librarians, academics and researchers who are interested in teaching
information literacy within our subject areas. There will be four speakers:
Martin Jenkins
Martin is Team Leader, Learning Technology & Skills Support at University of
Gloucestershire. He is responsible for a team of staff supporting the use of
Information and Communications Technology for Learning and Teaching. His
paper will focus on his experience of integrating information literacy into the
curriculum and assessing it.
Theresa Summerfield
Theresa is the Resource Guide Adviser for Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and
Tourism, for JISC. She works in partnership with the ALTIS Project at the
University of Birmingham. Theresa will run a hands on session introducing
some of the JISC funded tools that can be used to teach information literacy in
our subject areas.
Sarah Ward
Sarah is an Information Specialist for sport, leisure and tourism at Sheffield
Hallam University. She has extensive experience of teaching information
literacy in our subject areas. Her paper will examine how information literacy
can be facilitated using a virtual learning environment.
Sheila Webber
Sheila teaches information management in the Department of Information
Studies at the University of Sheffield. She has published widely on the subject
of information literacy and will give us a general overview of the topic. Her

Where is the seminar?
The seminar is at the University of Gloucestershire's Oxtalls Campus,
Longlevens, Gloucester, GL2 9HW . It is about two miles from Gloucester
railway station. Accommodation is available at the Premier Lodge Hotel,
Gloucester North at approximately £48.00 for a single room. Please book this
direct with the hotel. There are direct rail services to Gloucester from London,
South-West England, Birmingham and further a-field.

How much does the seminar cost?
The fees will be £80 for SPRIG members and £120 for non members. Lunch
and refreshments are included. To book a place please go to
