The Word & Image Department has been created from the merger of the National Art Library and the Prints, Drawings and Paintings Department. In order to provide expanded information services, it is currently being restructured into three main sections: Information Gateway, Central Services, and Collections and Interpretation. 

This key new post will be responsbile for setting up, developing and managing the Information Gateway section. This will include new information services on the collections and subject areas supported by the Museum and the development of a new reading room. An important aspect will be managing the change resulting from the integration of the Department's information, research, learning and outreach activities. You will develop teams responsible for dissemination and external relations; reading and study rooms; and remote access and web-based services.  

We are looking for an innovative manager with approximately ten year's experience providing public services, at least five of which should be at a senior management level in a similar organisation. You should have a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship and Information Studies, or equivalent; have considerable experience of providing information in traditional and electronic forms based in reading rooms and digitally; and have up to date knowledge of computerised delivery systems, closed access circulation, databank and knowledge management systems. You should also be able to demonstrate a knowledge of, or interest in, art and design, or in the history of publishing and production of the book.
