UC&R Berks, Bucks and Oxon Section - Annual General Meeting 2003
Thursday 20th February, 3pm, Oxford University Press, Walton Street/Great Clarendon St, Oxford
We are pleased to announce that this year's Annual General Meeting will be held at the Publishing Offices of the Oxford University Press and will be followed by a tour of the OUP Museum and Archives.
A department of the University of Oxford, OUP is the world's largest university press. It publishes more than 4,500 new books a year and has a presence in over fifty countries. Its publishing programme includes scholarly works in all academic disciplines, bibles, music, school and college textbooks, children's books, materials for teaching English as a foreign language, business books, dictionaries and reference books, and journals.
The AGM will be held in the OUP Staff Restaurant from 3pm to 3.20pm.
The tour will be conducted by the OUP Archivist Dr. Martin Maw and will last approximately an hour and a half. It will offer the opportunity to see a selection of books from the library and various archive documents of interest and will include a film from the 1920s outlining the history of book printing and production at OUP, from casting type to applying gold leaf to the finished product.
All section members are encouraged to attend the AGM and there is no charge for the tour. However, numbers on the tour will be limited to a maximum of 30 people so booking for the tour is essential.
A copy of this form and of the Report from the Chair will be sent to all section members in advance of the meeting. The Report from the Chair is also available on request from Sue Egleton - [log in to unmask]
