HOW TO BID FOR FUNDS

This is an advanced course suitable for anybody who has attended the introductory Fundraising for librarians course, or who already has some experience of fundraising strategy or fundraising research.
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
The workshop will focus on applying techniques used in fundraising. By the end of the event participants will have:
· examined the types of questions asked by funders
· looked at examples of applications that fail
· practiced structuring letters of application
· started drafting an application for their own organisation
SPECIAL NOTES
Delegates will be expected to have already identified at least one potential funder and attend the course prepared with an application form and guidelines, their most recent set of accounts and the annual budget for their library or information service.
PREPARATION FOR THE WORKSHOP
All delegates should prepare for this course by researching a potential funder and bring a blank application form with them.
Delegates should also bring a copy of their organisation's most recent Annual Report and Accounts, budget and a business/strategic/service plan.
