Reminder: ISI Web of Knowledge Service for UK Education
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MIMAS remind subscribing institutions of the availability of the ISI Web
of Knowledge Service for UK Education. This includes the new version of
ISI Web of Science and Proceedings, both with set searching support and a
variety of additional facilities. Just one login using Athens authentication is
required at: http://wok.mimas.ac.uk/
The service at http://wos.mimas.ac.uk/ will continue until Friday 29th
August 2003 for the transition period, but from this date any users who
may still be unaware of the new interface will be automatically
re-directed to: http://wok.mimas.ac.uk/
[N.b. Some products, including Current Contents Connect and Derwent
Innovations Index, are still being brought up-to-date. The sites concerned
will be notified directly.]
Links
~~~~~
Institutional settings for Holdings and SFX (free to institutions with
suitable systems) and the Links (additional subscription required) are
additionally now available. Links Administrators for institutional journal
lists need to link to:
http://linkst.wok.mimas.ac.uk:9003/linksadm/PubAdmin.cgi when
editing/adding journals - usual usernames and passwords apply. Further
messages will be sent directly to each site's Links Administrator.
CrossSearch Facilty
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The CrossSearch - Form facility has been enabled for all institutions,
providing cross-searching of ISI products using the familiar WoS operands.
For further information on using the Cross Search function, please consult
the online help files or contact the WoK helpdesk.
External products can be added for cross-searching these include Agricola,
PubMed and ISI's eSearch, which ISI are making available free to existing
WoS subscribers.
CrossSearch - Concept, providing natural language searching, is being
built over the next few weeks. This involves the creation of a full-text
index of all data loaded, so must be completed in its entirety and the
effect upon server performance assessed prior to release.
As both types of CrossSearch - Form and Concept are optional for each
institution, please inform the WoK Helpdesk if you *do not wish* one or
both to be enabled for your institution. This option follows informal
feedback gathered during the recent training programme - we wish to
support an institution's preference.
