Dear All
Several people seem to be enountering the problem of obtaining academic
& quality texts in electronic format so I agreed to summarise replies I
have received for the list. Several replies came from companies & I am
purely relaying information provided & not recommending or advocating
any of these services.
Views from Librarians:
"We've been thinking of trialling a more academic focussed service from

I don't know if our titles would be of interest to you, but we have a
number
of business schools using them so they may be relevant for your needs.
You
can find our e-books via our online library called SourceOECD
(www.SourceOECD.org). You can browse through SourceOECD quite
freely without needing to register, we are very willing to offer free
trial access.

HERON
HERON was established in part to provide a solution to some of the
problems you mention in your email, ie.
lack of suitable academic, peer-reviewed material being published in
native electronic form by publishers.
As an on-demand service, HERON was able to copyright clear and to
digitise
any publication, whether in print or out of print, requested by the
university or college in question. HERON's primary focus has been the
on-demand digitisation of key book chapters and journal articles. We
have a
current clearance success rate of 85% of requests from universities
and
colleges.

I hope this is useful to those we requested more information.
