Thanks to all those who emailed me about the library/LRC debate. About
10 people said they had officially reverted to being
'Library'/'Librarian', whilst the other 12 would quite like to.
Looks like we will be opening the discussion to all LRC staff here to
see if there's a will to take it further. On the other hand, the new
name of 'Study Centre' was put forward this morning and people seemed to
like it. Aargh.
Has anyone seen this rather amusing cartoon about library rules? We're
thinking of using it in inductions... Our students seem to be going
ballistic at the moment in a sort of post-Eid, pre-Christmas frenzy.

Does anyone know of a library which was a 'Learning (Resource/s)
Centre'
(etc etc) but is now a 'library' again?! Some of our staff feel going
back
to the old moniker would be more appropriate, especially in terms of
helping maintain an atmosphere of work. Most people call us 'library'
anyway, including many LRC staff...! We're an FE college, BTW. We're
not at
all fusty, no buns in sight and we have a whole bunch of new-fangled
online
resources.
Any thoughts?
