Dear colleagues
A couple of weeks ago I sent a query to the list about peer observation of
teaching in academic libraries.
Here as promised is the feedback.
I received 4 replies.
Oxford Brookes are just about to embark on a scheme and Antony Brewerton is
happy to answer queries about this from anyone interested.
A group of universities making up the Benchmarking Consortium have been
experimenting with peer observation and are developing a tool kit later this
year. Chris Martindale at Derby is the contact for this.
They have a peer observation scheme at De Montfort and anyone who teaches
has to participate in it.
Aston have used peer observation and librarians there agree that it is a
useful tool for both new and more experienced staff.
We are continuing to develop our own guidelines for this here at APU. If
anyone wants any further information , please contact me. Thanks to those
who responded with information.
