This joint conference organised by MmITS and YLG Scotland aims to
introduce to you some of the best examples of children and ICT in UK
libraries and schools.
Nick Morgan will offer an overview of ICT in the school context, with
examples of successful, innovative and creative projects enjoyed by young
people. He will describe online and real world activities, and consider
some issues about working with children and ICT. Nick works for Learning
and Teaching Scotland, a government education agency working to promote
effective use of ICT for learning.
This three year project is funded through NOF (New Opportunities Funding),
BAA, Paisley Partnership and Renfrewshire Council Libraries. The unique
six week summer school combines all of the arts: creative writing; drama;
music; dance and IT. The children aged, 10-14 yrs old, devise a written
musical digital performance, after taster sessions in all of the areas and
create their own website www.artsgame2.com. The afternoon session will
introduce you to all of the professionals who worked on this year’s
performance ‘Spacetanic’ and this will be followed by a full performance
by the 30 local children.
