Hello Vanessa
The way we use IFLA requests is to supply the book and request a number of
IFLA vouchers from the requesting library (usually 1 or 2). We then hold
onto the vouchers and if we wish to borrow from an international library
that also use the IFLA vouchers we use these instead of having to pay an
invoice. This system has been working very well for us for sometime and we
have a fair number of the vouchers in hand. A large number of sites
registered on OCLC are also happy to accept IFLA vouchers in payment for
loans, so they are becoming very useful for our OCLC requests and any other
loans we arrange with individual libraries around the world.
Obviously this is only of use if you do international loans/requests, which
actually we are finding we are doing more and more.

Subject: IFLA REQUEST QUERY
Hello,
I was wondering if someone out there could help me.
I have just received an I.F.L.A. Request Form. I have phoned the British
Library for guidance on how to claim for this request. They informed me
that
they do not deal with IFLA requests and that any requests satisfied would
be
done on a reciprocal basis. i.e. if we lend we do not get any compensation
but we could borrow off of them for no charge.
Is this true? Has anyone out there dealt with IFLA requests that could
advise me?
Thank You,
Vanessa Bedford
