Afternoon Phil,
Here at South Bank Uni, we changed our ILL policy beginning of
this academic year.
We have staff and student forms, the staff forms are purchased in
advance by the SAO of the department in batches of ten and it is
then their responsibility to allocate them to whoever. They are
charged at 5.00 per form (request). Prior to this I used to allocate
them by departmental use and they were free of charge, as the
cost was covered from the book budget. This new system has
also cut down on mis-use of the service and made it fairer for the
departments.
Student forms are charged at 3.00 for final year undergraduates,
they are allowed ten at this cost and once this allocation has been
used up, the cost rises to 5.00. It is the same for postgraduates,
except they are allowed an allocation of 20 forms before the cost
rises to 5.00. Prior to this each request cost 2.00 and the numbers
of forms were unrestricted. First and second year students are
allowed to use the service but only on production of a signed form
from their Course Tutor verifying the request as an essential item.
The system has worked well so far.
