I think that one should be careful of throwaway remarks which are not backed
up with inside knowledge. Any (ok...either) subscription agent will be quick
to talk up gains and slow to admit losses. Jill's perception that many
libraries are switching 'because of price' may or may not be true, but in
these cut-throat days the same may be happening the other way around - it's
hardly unknown for Agent A to offer a better deal to a library whose pricing
terms Agent B has been taking for granted.
By the way I left Swets' payroll in 1989 in case anyone is suspicious...
