As part of its development programme for implementing the Continuing Access
and Digital Preservation Strategy, JISC has funded a one-year consultancy
aimed at scoping the needs and requirements of the UK HE/FE community for
ensuring continuing access to scholarly e-journals.
One of the deliverables from this study is a summary report of a sample
survey of libraries who have been involved in NESLI deals during 2002. The
report is available from:
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/dner/preservation/e-pub.html
The JISC Journals Working Group have requested that details of the summary
report of the survey be made widely available. This report will also help
to inform a focussed invitation-only Workshop next month which members of
the JJWG will be attending, together with representatives from the
publishing sector and other stakeholders.
The report of this Workshop will also be accessible from the JISC website as
soon as it is available and details will be circulated to appropriate lists
at that time. It is intended that the Workshop will lead to recommendations
for practical options aimed at improving the current uncertainty over
archiving of licensed e-journals.
