We have a trial open with the British Library's Inside Web as one of the suppliers. There has been extremely and disappointingly little use. We attribute it to the capriciousness and hard-to-use quality of the search interface. In any event the teaching staff members authorized to participate have not done so. This is perhaps a good thing, since the documents that our InterLibrary Lending department receive do not identify the requester. This despite the provision of a field in the user form just for this purpose.
ScienceDirect was also part of the trial and has been a great success, as the users receive a document to their desktop 100% of the time.
The BL North American representative has taken his retirement and we have no one to whom to address our suggestions for improvement of the BL's service. It's a pity, as the BL definitely has the goods. As for delivering them, that is another story.

Subject: Desktop Document Delivery Services
Hello,
Apologies for cross-posting.
I would be very interested to hear from any UK Higher Education
Libraries that currently offer a desktop document delivery system
such as UnCover/Ingenta or BL Inside Web (or any others) to their
customers, especially where the library is actually paying for the
articles.
We are interested in piloting such a service here at Roehampton,
and would like to hear of the experiences of others.
Apologies if I'm addressing the wrong list - I'm not usually involved in
interlending, so if anyone would like to point me in a better
direction I would be most grateful!
Best wishes,
Kate Price
