Lesley,

I have also had the pleasure of checking Synergy and Ingenta
Select over the past few days!

We took the decision to move our OPAC links from 'classic'
ingenta to Synergy for the Blackwell full collection as the Synergy
site seems to be updated some time before the ingenta site - but
not always which I find rather bizarre, I must say that we have had
no problems with changes in publisher with Synergy, the
information can easily be found on the admin pages and can be
checked at your leisure. However, I still have trouble with the new
titles as every time a log onto Synergy there appear to be more
titles - for example today Synergy includes 678 titles that's about
40 more than the start of the year - trouble is I haven't a clue what
they are, without checking my old list with a new list of all titles
downloaded from the admin pages, this takes time! - I did used to
get an email which told me new titles, however these weren't
particularly new as we had already spotted them, and certainly
didn't cover all the new titles!

On to ingenta Select - one great thing is the list of subscribed titles
by publisher - but I was surprised when I looked at them - some we
have never taken, some we have cancelled but still get on ingenta
Select and some publisher changes between CUP and Sage - first
we had heard about them, on checking our CUP titles (these are
direct with CUP) they had moved but of course we were linking to a
page with no further details.

I can only do a check like this once a year during the summer, so
what happens for the rest of the year - my experience is that once
a user hits a dead page they won't tell us and certainly will not
return!

What I would like to see is all publishers/aggregators etc publish a
monthly (?) list of new titles, changed titles and cessations - and if
these titles have moved to another publisher who that publish is!
Elesvier manage this!!

For those lurking publishers and the like of Ingenta select out there
you may want to justify this by the following:

If we can't change a link quickly on the OPAC then the title will not
get used - if the titles don't get used then the usage stats will drop
in which case we will be cancelling those titles next year and you
are loosing revenue!

Graham
