Hi Lesley-

I've been in touch offline with more detailed answers to some of your
questions below, but to address your main points:

1. The lack or currency of some T&F titles on Ingenta Select compared to
MetaPress

Ingenta is a secondary host for Taylor & Francis content, and as such we
rely on MetaPress to supply the content to us. T&F has asked MetaPress to
conduct a complete resupply and we are expecting more timely receipts for
future issues.

2. Loss of access to some titles that we used to have access to on Ingenta
Select, but where there are no longer any subs icons showing next to the
issues. In these cases we continue to have our rightful access through
MetaPress.

This may be a renewals issue. We are just in the process of renewing access
for 2004 on behalf of our publisher clients. Please bear with us -
everything should be renewed within the next few weeks, and gracing periods
will be in place to see the process through to completion in the New Year.

3. No content showing for the Journal of Sports Sciences on some ingenta
select servers.

A check this morning has confirmed that this journal is now available on all
servers.

Best wishes,

Subject: Problems with Some of our Taylor and Francis titles via Ingenta
Select and MetaPress

Hi,

Back at the beginning of April 2003 I reported to this list some problems we
were having accessing some our T&F subscriptions through Ingenta Select. We
have now found that some of these problems remain, plus we have uncovered
some new problems:

1. One of the titles, Journal of Sports Sciences, is sometimes showing no
contents i.e. volumes, issues even though it said we had a subscription to
this title. I had been told that that problem had been fixed.

This morning myself and a lecturer have been running some information
sessions for 1st Year Sports Sciences/Sports Therapy students. As part of
the session the students were encouraged to locate particular journal
titles, one of which was the Journal of Sports Sciences.

Everyone that tried to follow the link from our OPAC seemed to end up on the
masetto ingenta select server, where there are no contents at all being
displayed for this title. I should point out that the URL on our OPAC
doesn't contain server specific information or dynamic information. Maybe
all the other servers are fine!?!

2. Another of our users was trying to get to the latest (2004) issues of
Aerosol Science and Technology on Ingenta Select. Although we have subs
icons appearing until the end of 2003, there are no subs icons appearing for
2004 content. I presume that this is because the subscription data sent to
Ingenta Select is based on subscriptions year, and hasn't taken into account
the fact that some journals have issues ahead of the subscription year.

3. Aging and Mental Health - the lastest issue on Ingenta Select is Vol.
6(4) (2002) whereas the latest issue on the MetaPress site is Vol. 7(6)
(2003)

4. AIDS Care - the latest issue on Ingenta Select is Vol. 14(6) (2002)
whereas the latest issue on the MetaPress site is Vol. 15(6) (2003).
Fortunately this lack of currency is not a problem for us this time as we no
longer subscribe to this title.

5. Cambridge Journal of Education - we have the first issue of 2003 being
the March issue, whereas the second issue of 2003 is for January. A minor
point perhaps?

6. Clinical Linguistics and Phonetics - we used to have access to this
title, but there are no subs icons appearing next to this title anymore. We
continue to have full access on the MetaPress site. This isn't the first T&F
subscription of ours to become unsubscribed for no apparent reason!!

7. Comparative Education - the latest issue on Ingenta Select is Vol. 38(4)
(2002, whereas the latest issue on the MetaPress site is Vol. 39(3) (2003).
However on the MetaPress site we no longer have access to any content before
Vol. 36(1) (2000), whereas we have access to all available content on
Ingenta Select from 1995 onwards.

8. Connection Science - the latest issue on Ingenta Select is Vol. 14(2)
(2002) whereas the latest issue on the MetaPress site is Vol. 15(2-3) (2003)

9. Contemporary Physics - we used to have access to this title, but there
are no subs icons appearing next to this title anymore. We continue to have
full access on the MetaPress site. This isn't the first T&F subscription of
ours to become unsubscribed for no apparent reason!!

Now I am going to stop here, although this is not the end of the list of
problems, but there seems to be two major problems, and a small number or
minor ones:

1. The lack or currency of some T&F titles on Ingenta Select compared to
MetaPress
2. Loss of access to some titles that we used to have access to on Ingenta
Select, but where there are no longer any subs icons showing next to the
issues. In these cases we continue to have our rightful access through
MetaPress.
3. No content showing for the Journal of Sports Sciences on some ingenta
select servers.

I have to say I am appalled by some of the problems above. Even if we had
added links to our OPAC to Taylor and Francis's MetaPress site we would
still have had some problem with those links.

I hesitate to ask if others of you out there have experienced disappearing
subscriptions from Ingenta Select, and the lack of currency of some T&F
titles on Ingenta Select when compared to the MetaPress site.

Maybe this is happening with other publishers as well.

At least it's almost the weekend!!

Cheers
Lesley
