Hi,
As our institution is a major Divine customer, I would like to thank all
publishers, such as the IoP, who have provided extended grace periods
for Divine customers together with the work being done by ALPSP and
others to minimise disruption for all those affected.
I have just had an email from the ASBMB, publisher of the Journal of
Biological Chemistry, saying they had not received a renewal payment for
2003 and that they had extended our grace period to 15/01/03 to give us
time to get this sorted! This length of grace period is totally
inadequate for the varying situations that Divine customers find
themselves in. We also have printed reminders piling up from various
publishers that we have had subscriptions with over many years, but who
have not yet received payment.
Can I please urge the ASBMB and other publishers, whether big or small,
to make sure that Divine customers are not inconvenienced because of the
current situation with Divine and to please consider extended grace
periods for Divine customers as a matter of urgency.
At the end of the day it is our users that we are trying to protect,
especially as this is the period of the year that sees some of the
heaviest uses of our electronic resources.
Cheers
Lesley

our full support.
Your IOP Regional Manager will contact you shortly to discuss the status
of your renewals and the continuity of your access to our journals. If
you have suggestions or wish to discuss specific issues, please do not
hesitate to contact us.
