I had the same deadline is now December 2004

I am in the same position as Katherine in that having registered for route
B, I completed my qualifying period in June 2002 (as far as I can work out *
starting professional work in June 2000 but not signing up to the
chartership process until April 2001).
I too received the letter saying that I had completed this qualifying period
by October 2001 and should have submitted by October 2002. According to the
person I spoke to at CILIP on Friday I am "one of the people who shouldn't
have received that letter" and it was an error in the database. I have been
told I have until December 2004 to submit. I hope this remains the case!

Yes, I'm confused too.
I believe that I completed my qualifying period at the end of December 2002.
However, the letters from CILIP have only served to panic me, as they seem
to think I should have completed my two years by October 2001. Except I am
on Route B, which I believed took two years to qualify, and I didn't start
my professional post until January 2001.
Do I assume from this, as others are, that I have until Oct 2004 to submit?
(Not that I want it to take that long!)
