- - I think they can't have very good information on when people's
qualifying period starts and ends, (because you are allowed to count
service gained before you registered for the Chartership process).

I'm a bit concerned by this statement. I also understood that you are
allowed to count service gained before registration towards the Route B
qualifying period. My registration (November 2001) was delayed while I
waited for my former employer to sort out my Route A programme (which never
happened). When I later moved to a post with Route A training and notified
CILIP, they informed me that my qualifying period only began on the day I
registered on Route B (although I can't find this anywhere in the
regulations - it just says register for Route B asap), meaning that I lost
nearly three months which I thought I had accumulated. It was a nasty
shock as my Route A post was temporary and completing the required training
period was tight.
It not an issue for me now, I've completed 17 months in total over both
routes and had it accepted by CILIP, but you might like to check exactly
how much time they think you have accumulated.
