Dear all,
Following my original e-mail (copied and pasted below for reference) there
has been some discussion sent to me which I will summarise briefly:
For some people chartership is more a case of choosing which route (A in
one year or B in two) is available to you rather than which one is easier.
It is a very good idea to contact your Regional Liaison Officer (RLO) from
CILIP's Career Development Group (CDG) to ask them for advice.
The Personal Professional Development Plan (PPDP) is not marked against
the final submission of the report but it helps to have a good plan at the
start. This will show consideration of the different areas of information
work needed for a good report. Finally you must ensure that you meet the
strict word limit and portfolio of evidence set in the current guidelines.
Hope this is some help and good luck to people in this situation!

Original e-mail (20/09/03):
Dear all,
I have just registered for the Route B programme of CILIP and I am
trying
to compile my Personal Professional Development Plan (PPDP).
It is difficult to work out a Plan for two years when the world of
information is constantly changing and there is way of really knowing
where you will be in a few years time.
It can be argued that it might be more difficult for people on the
Route B
programme. Under the 2002 transitional programme, people registered for
Route A can get supervision in their own workplace on an approved CILIP
programme. For people like myself, it will be a long two years probably
accumulating so much material that it will take another two years just
to
cut through it all to produce a 4000 word essay.
Do people find that compiling the PPDP is easier to do with a
supervisor
on a Route A programme than doing so on your own or with a volunteer on
the Route B programme?
Grateful for any advice or words of wisdom from people chartered or
planning to do so.
Thanks,
Alex Seymour
