Hi Philip,
Not sure if you are quite right in your interpretation of the new
guidelines...
The way I understand the situation is:
Route A is limited to a year's training programme... you can stop the
programme and restart it in another post if you let CILIP know and they
sometimes allow you a bit more time to complete because of the confusion
involved in starting a new job. To continue your programme in a new post
there has to be a training scheme already set up and running there which
has been approved by CILIP. You'll also need a new supervisor.
However - CILIP has told you to re-register under the route B pathway. This
pathway doesn't involve a training scheme or supervisor - it's self
motivated and this is why you get a two year registration period for it.
You should be able to back date the start of the registration though... as
you've already been registered for two years I think CILIP might let you
back date it that far unless of course you need more time to complete the
criteria? You should be following the 1995 handbook (pre 2002) which has
the relevant criteria in it - but best check this with CILIP as it is all a
bit confusing. Try contacting Susan Kay or Marion Huckle from Members and
qualifications department... they've always been very helpful to me when
I've asked them anything.
I hope all this helps.
Jessica.
