Hi June,
You are sending your nomail messages to the list - not as a command.
I.e. EVERYONE on this list is receiving your request (100's of people) but
no-one can do anything about it!
You have to follow the instructions in Rowena's e-mail from earlier today -
send the command she outlines to [log in to unmask] NOT to
[log in to unmask]
I have copied her msg below FYI
cb
Lesha & I have sent many reminders over the years (and it's amazing to me
that some people are in jobs where they need to set an auto-reply for being
out of the office for a teabreak). Now more people use MS Outlook it's just
too easy to set an auto reply, but we do change 'offenders' list settings to
nomail wherever possible.
So here's another reminder for those of you about to go on holiday:
You can suspend your email in various ways:
To suspend mail from lis-cilip-reg ONLY
> send the following command to: [log in to unmask]
>
> set lis-cilip-reg nomail
>
> To suspend mail from all JISCmail lists you are subscribed to
> send the following command to: [log in to unmask]
>
> set * nomail
>
> When you return from the holidays
> send the following command to [log in to unmask]
>
> set lis-cilip-reg mail
>
> OR
>
> set * mail
>
OR:
Point your browser at
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/LIS-CILIP-REG.html
Choose 'Join or leave the list (or change settings)'
Scroll down the page to Miscellaneous and tick the box next to 'Mail
delivery disabled temporarily'
You can also choose the subscribers corner from the main jiscmail page,
which will allow you to pick your favourite lists so that they are
automatically displayed when you go to
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/
Don't forget that you can check the list archives to see what's been
happening during your holiday.
And it may sound dumb, but do turn off your out-of-office reply when you get
back to work!
Rowena (co-listowner)
