Subject: CILIP BACKS INFORMATION AND LEARNING AS WAY FORWARD FOR SKILLS
TRAINING
The Boards of the Information Services National Training Organisation and
PAULO: the NTO for community learning and development, warmly welcome CILIP
Council's overwhelming support for their proposals for a Sector Skills
Council. We look forward to working with CILIP, and the other professional
bodies, on bringing this about.
We also have letters of support from SCONUL, the Scottish Library &
Information Council and the Records Management Society of Great Britain, so
far.
As well as the support of the professional bodies and other organisations,
we also need strong support from employers. A leaflet describing the
proposal was sent out widely a few weeks ago: someone in your organisation
is likely to have it, and it is also on our website (www.isnto.org.uk). If
your organisation has not already done so, please let us have your support
for this venture - using either the fax-back form in the leaflet or the
response form on the website. We are pleased to note that many employers
(ie: heads of service) have already done this.
Matters are developing apace: the need for your support is therefore urgent.
