APOLOGIES FOR CROSS POSTING
DID YOU MISS OUT ON IFLA GLASGOW 2002?
The 2002 IFLA Conference in Glasgow was a tremendous success, but there is life after Glasgow and CILIP is committed to continuing its support of IFLA in 2003 and beyond. The 69th IFLA General Conference and Council will be held in Berlin, Germany from 1st - 9th August 2003. Every year, this conference provides the largest single networking opportunity for LIS workers from throughout the world to meet together to discuss major issues and share experience and expertise. The conference is held in a different country every year (recent venues have been Havana, Istanbul, Beijing, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Jerusalem, Boston and Glasgow) and attracts up to 5,000 participants. This year the conference theme is Access Point Library: Media - Information - Culture. For more information, please see the IFLA website at: http://www.ifla.org/.
To encourage members to become involved in IFLA activities, CILIP provides two types of funding to those in current membership of CILIP. They are Partial Grants and Full Grants.
Priority for Partial Grants will be given to CILIP members who are active in IFLA affairs: Chairs and Secretaries of IFLA Sections, members of Section Standing Committees, those invited to give papers, and those on the Committees of Discussion Groups, in that order.
There will be 3 or 4 Full Grants to members who are attending the IFLA Conference for the first time. This grant should cover your travel, accommodation, registration fee and a small amount for daily subsistence.
Interactive online application forms are available on CILIP's website at: http://www.cilip.org.uk/advocacy/intsupport.html.
