Subject: Info from JRULM DSU regarding copyright
Hi Emma,
I know I sent you a letter earlier regarding copyright changes, but David
Orman has asked that I send this letter to all the health Libraries that use
JRULM DSU services. Do you think that you could send it to the LIHNN
list?
Thanks Eleri
CHANGES TO DOCUMENT SUPPLY PROCEDURES
for Health Libraries
Dear Colleague
As you will know, new copyright legislation is being introduced
tomorrow, Friday 31 October 2003. Although we had hoped to continue
to be able to operate all our services to you, because the CLA has
withdrawn one proposed scheme at the last moment we are having to
notify you that, until the matter is resolved, restrictions will apply.
This email summarises the new procedures. Please contact my colleague,
Joan Lowe, or myself if you require further clarification.
JRULM members: Inter-Library Loans service
If the person making the request has indicated that the request is for
purely private study or research, the existing procedures should be
followed.
If the person making the request has indicated that the request is for
commercial purposes, go to
www.bl.uk/serials and find the title of the serial where you will find the
copyright fee. (Alternatively, contact the Document Supply Unit who
will be able to advise you of the fee to be charged.) This fee (which IS
refundable if the request cannot be satisfied) should be rounded up to
the nearest £2.00 and charged in addition to the normal request charge.
When the request is sent to the JRULM's Document Supply Unit,
vouchers or voucher numbers to the value of the request plus the
copyright fee should be supplied, with a note indicating that the request
is for commercial purposes.
NON-MEMBERS: Copies of material from JRULM stock..
If the person making the request has indicated that the request is for
purely private study or research, the existing procedures should be
followed.
We regret that, at present, we are unable to accept requests from non-
members for material which is to be used for commercial purposes.
Regards
David Orman
