The current NICE Guidelines on Chronic Heart Failure state that Triamterene and Amiloride can be used to prevent potassium loss.
About 25 years ago, a paper was presented in which the author had found a ship sunk before the atomic bomb and used the steel from that ship to build a chamber so he could measure measure total body postassium . His conclusion was that to prevent potassium loss while on a diuretic only spironolactone worked and triamterine, amiloride and potassium supplements were ineffective.
Can anyone help me in locating this paper?
