We just noticed that on several sites the BDII setting in the site-cfg.h
file is at the default value, i.e. does not point to a real BDII node.
Be aware that this setting must point to an existing BDII node even if
you do not run a RB/BDII service at your site: the ReplicaManager
client, available on UIs and WNs, uses the BDII to find the address of
the RLS servers. If this information is not available, any edg-rm
command will fail.
If at your site you have not installed a BDII node, you should edit your
site-cfg.h file and make sure that the two lines
#define SITE_BDII_HOST <bdii-node>
#define SITE_BDII_PORT <bdii-port>
point to an active BDII node.
In general <bdii-port> should be set to 2170. As <bdii-node> you can
either use one at a nearby site (your primary site, if you refer to one,
is a good candidate) or use the BDII at CERN, lxshare0222.cern.ch.
Here is the list of known BDIIs available in LCG:
PIC-BARCELONA grid-bdii.ifae.es
IFIC-VALENCIA loki08.ific.uv.es
IFCA-SANTANDER gtbcg07.ifca.unican.es
BUDAPEST grid113.kfki.hu
CERN lxshare0222.cern.ch
INFN-CNAF wn-02-35-a.cr.cnaf.infn.it
FZK hik-edg-se.fzk.de
MOSCOW lhc05.sinp.msu.ru
NIKHEF bosheks.nikhef.nl
RAL lcgbdii.gridpp.rl.ac.uk
TAIWAN lcg00106.grid.sinica.edu.tw
Before using any of them, please check with the corresponding site
manager if (s)he agrees to grant you access: this might require some
firewall modifications at their site.
Cheers
Emanuele
