That was the problem, I updated to the latest version of the
edg-populate-serverng which was 1.0.23-edg1. I also updated my LCFGng
server to the latest LCG1-1_1_0 release.
Now, the install appears to complete without any errors at all, but when
the node reboots itself, it doesn't find a boot loader. I assume grub
is supposed to be installed? Our systems have both IDE and SCSI disks
in them and first I tried to install on the SCSI disk, which worked, but
when it rebooted, it found the original grub loader from the previous
installed OS which was pointing to the old second stage sector. I
changed our config and disabled SCSI in the BIOS so it would install on
the IDE drive, but when it tries to reboot, the BIOS doesn't even find a
boot loader. There was never a boot loader on the IDE disk before and
it appears that the LCFGng installation doesn't install one either. Any
idea what is wrong now?
