The Third Biennial Scientific Conference of the Advisory Board on the Law
of the Sea (ABLOS) will take place October 28-30, 2003, at the
International Hydrographic Bureau in Monaco. In keeping with the
Conference Theme "Addressing Difficult Issues in UNCLOS," ABLOS proposes to
explore problems related to geodesy, hydrography, and marine geoscience
that may affect the interpretation and application of the Law of the Sea.
The format of the Conference will vary from previous meetings in that it
will open with a series of tutorial sessions before proceeding to plenary
sessions. The tutorial sessions will be of an introductory nature, and
will review current practice and problems. The plenary sessions will
feature presentations that deal with new developments and emerging issues.
Preference in the selection of presentations for the plenary sessions will
be given to interdisciplinary papers that discuss interactions between law
and science, but this will not preclude consideration of papers that focus
primarily on one or the other discipline.
The registration fee is 200 Euros. This will cover participation in all
tutorial and plenary sessions, admission to an evening reception on October
28, coffee breaks, and distribution of the proceedings on CD-ROM.
Attendance is limited to 80 persons.

for registration, and choice of accommodations in Monaco.
