Salary Grade A post (spine points 36 – 38 depending on experience).
Reports to Chartered Health Psychologist, Manager of Psychology Services
Accountable to Director of Rehabilitation & Therapies
Job profile We are looking for a Chartered Health or Clinical Psychologist
to join an expanding multi-disciplinary team working with the medical teams
to deliver a psychological service to a range of chronically ill patients in
Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care.
This is a new service and as such the post-holder will be required to
participate in the development and evaluation of this post.
Dimensions
The post holder is to be responsible for:
·The provision of a specialised psychological service to patients with
coronary heart disease (CHD) and respiratory disease.
·The provision of a specialised psychological service to patients in
critical care.
·To develop and manage a Clinical Governance agenda for these psychological
services.
·The specialist training of pre-qualification Health/Clinical Psychologists.
The post holder will work within the Trust’s Rehabilitation & Therapies
Directorate however he/she must be able to liaise with other members of the
multi-disciplinary Team based at the Royal Brompton Hospital. These include
Paediatric Clinical Psychology, Social Services, Macmillan and Palliative
Care Nursing Services, Physiotherapy and Patient Services. Postgraduate
trainees are also on placement within the Trust from a variety of Health
Psychology training courses. High standards of clinical practice and
research are paramount.
JOB PURPOSE:
The appointee will be required to conduct psychological assesments of
patients referred to the psychology service. In addition, the post holder
will administer psychological interventions designed to improve patient
quality of life, increase adherence to treatment and promote psychological
adjustment. Research duties will also be required to evaluate psychosocial
adjustment and quality of life of cardiac and respiratory disease patients
and their carers.
