Dear colleagues
I am still looking for people and current/recent projects addressing
specifically on
the theme of managing much increased student numbers (with little commensurate
increase in resources of course!). Issues are things like maintaining or
changing teaching methodologies, managing assessment, using technologies,
maintaining personal contact with students and making them feel they matter,
retaining quality of both teaching and research, diversity of the student body
etc.
Some of our courses here are experiencing doubling or tripling of numbers in
very short periods of time, and this creates issues of change regardless of the
original cohort size. In addition, changing profiles of students and large
intakes of international students on some courses add to the need for change.
I am interested in finding out what work is going on in this area...and sources
of information - and possibly running an event with an external speaker/s in
the Summer Term if anyone has any experience of good people.
Thanks to those who replied to my previous message. I will pass on any useful
information gathered in this search.
many thanks
ali
