Workshop Objectives
The goal of this workshop is to assemble a group of European government,
private sector and
academic workers interested in building web-based GIS portals that implement
Local, Regional,
National, and European Spatial Data Infrastructures. During the workshop
there will be
presentations from leading European and North American experts on topics
such as:
* The state of the art in GIS portals
* The technology required to build a portal
* The contrast between European-American approaches
* Examples of current implementations
* Standards for content, metadata and access
* Outstanding research questions
Intended Audience
This meeting will be of interest to University and Government workers
involved in building Local,
Regional, National, and European GIS portals. Speakers will be invited from
the US and Europe
and from the academic, commercial, and government sectors.
Conference venue
The conference will take place in the Chadwick Lecture Theatre in the
basement of the Chadwick
building on the campus of UCL in the heart of London.
