Salary scale: £36,608 to £48,520 - commensurate with skills and
experience.
The UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre in Cambridge, UK, is
mandated by the UN Environment Programme to provide biodiversity data
and information of the highest quality and accessibility to a wide range
of users including governments, intergovernmental processes, the private
sector, civil society and NGOs in support of global efforts to reduce
the rate of loss of biodiversity. Delivering biodiversity information to
a wide audience is crucial to the Centre's mission.
You will lead a major development initiative to upgrade the Centre's
information management systems and service delivery. You will build on
links with UNEP's operational offices world-wide, and engage with the
private sector and NGO partners in the initiative. You will direct the
teams responsible for web services, GIS, ICT, library, publications and
enquiries - a broad technical understanding of each of these disciplines
is essential to the post.
You will be highly motivated to contribute to improving the world
environment. You will have strong leadership qualities coupled with
experience in managing people, and multi-stakeholder projects.
This is a full time, open-ended appointment based in our purpose-built,
award-winning Cambridge offices. You will be employed on a local
(non-UN) contract with a competitive package, including a flexible
pension scheme and 25 days' annual leave plus public holidays. Further
