PART TIME TEACHING COVER IN APPLIED AND/OR SOLID EARTH GEOPHYSICS
School of Earth Sciences & Geography, Kingston University, Surrey
An opportunity has arisen within the school for a part-time teaching
replacement to cover an ongoing secondment for Dr Neil Thomas in the first
Semester of the 2003/4 academic year.
We are looking for a person or persons to cover teaching on our Level 2
Earth Resources module (basic exploration geophysics) and the Level 3
Global Geophysics module (solid Earth and
Planetary geophysics). The cover would be guaranteed for the 2003/4
academic year with the possibility of the same arrangement for the 2004/5
year.
Applicants from all levels of teaching experience are welcomed, though the
appointee will have ideally either obtained (or in the process of writing
up) a PhD in any branch of geophysics, or have taught geophysics
at HE level in the past. The position would be an excellent opportunity
for a post-doctoral researcher or a recently completed PhD student or,
equally, an experienced or recently retired lecturer.
The cover will amount approximately 115 hours (October 2003-February 2004,
with the main commitment before Christmas). Payment will be made on
normal rates of ca. £31 per hour. Teaching times and allocations are
negotiable.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Dr Neil Thomas
([log in to unmask] or Phone 020 8547 7525) for informal discussions,
and Professor Andrew Rankin, Head of
School of Earth Sciences & Geography ([log in to unmask], 0208 547
7245) for formal application details.
