Hello All,
Let me wade in on the skarn issue. In my work I've restricted the term
"skarn" to calc-silicate rocks, usually affording ample evidence of
metasomatic exchange, that spatially are related unequivocally to
intrusions. They are calcareous contact rocks and skarn (to me) is a
genetic term. Similar (or even identical) rocks with no spatial ties to
intrusions are (again, to me) calc-silicate rocks, a strictly descriptive
term. By textural distinctions, these may include calc-silicate granofels,
calc-silicate gneiss, calc-silicate schist, etc.
Bonne Année à Tous!
