Dear Colleagues,
We would like to call to your attention a special session,
at the upcoming Eleventh Water-Rock Interaction Symposium
(Summer, 2004), focussing on crustal fluids, metasomatism,
and chemical cycling (all broadly defined). The session,
"Crustal Fluid-Rock Interactions, Mass Transfer, and Cycling
of Volatiles" will, we hope, attract a diverse set of
approaches to study of the roles and significance of fluids
in the crust (and mantle), bringing together those attacking
the problem from field, theoretical, geochemical and
petrologic, and experimental angles.
The conference will be in Saratoga Springs, New York, in
late June, 2004 (June 27 to July 2) and much information is
available regarding logistics, abstracts (four-page) and
deadlines at the following web site:
http://www.outreach.psu.edu/C&I/WRI/
We hope that you'll choose to participate in this session,
or any of the other sessions at this conference, if they are
more appropriate. The abstract submission deadline is
fairly fast-approaching (formal date of Oct. 15). There is
some, within limits(!), flexibility in this submission
deadline - let us know if you're interested but know you'll
be somewhat late for some reason.
Best regards,
Gray Bebout (Lehigh University; [log in to unmask])
Jay Ague (Yale University; [log in to unmask])
