Dear All, 11/7/03
For some work aimed getting better insights bearing on any detailed
crystallochemical variations by chlorites from metapelites as a
function of the chlorite composition, I need to obtain some samples
not available from my own collections. Of particular importance are
chlorite samples that coexist with Al-rich minerals like staurolite,
chloritoid, Al-Silicates. I have samples with Mg/(Mg + Fe) ratios
ranging from ~0.5 to 0.6 to nearly 1.0. Hence, I need samples with
Mg/(Mg + Fe) as much below ~0.5 as possible.
Does anyone have pelitic rocks (formed under at least approximately
equilibrium conditions) containing such chlorites, and from which it
would be "reasonably feasible", after crushing a chip, to hand pick
out a few dozen or more chlorite grains on which analytical, X-ray,
and possibly Mossbauer work could be conducted?
If so, please e-mail me directly so we could discuss by e-mail the
nature of your candidate sample(s).
Many thanks, Charlie Guidotti
