Dr Ang Swee Chai survived the Sabra and Shatila massacre during the war in
Lebanon in 1982. On her return to London, she co-founded MAP
(Medical Aid for Palestinians). She has continued working with Palestinians:
in Lebanon during the camp wars, and Gaza Strip during the First Palestinian
Uprising (First Intifada). Last year, she returned to Sabra and Shatila in
Lebanon to record a BBC radio programme entitled 'Sabra and Shatila: 20
years after the massacre'.
UNIPAL, an educational charity, focuses on educational exchange with
Palestinians by sending volunteers to the Middle East to work with
Palestinians and bringing Palestinian teachers of English to Britain so that
they may refresh their language by living with British families and taking
courses (http://www.unipal.org.uk).
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) is the largest and most active
campaigning organisation in the UK which supports the rights of the
Palestinian people. Its aim is to build an effective mass campaign,
organising protests, political lobbying and raising public awareness.
The PSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-party political
organisation with members from many communities across the country.
