The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and the Brookings-SAIS Project on Internal
Displacement are organizing a side event at the annual OSCE Human Dimension
Implementation Meeting on "Protecting internally displaced persons: A greater
role for the OSCE?" The event is scheduled for 10 October 2003, 13:15-14:45.
At the side meeting, the NRC will present a comprehensive report on the
current IDP situation in the OSCE area, and a panel of international IDP
experts will discuss experiences in the field and the possibilities for the
OSCE to address IDP issues in a more engaged and systematic manner.
The panelists will include Christophe Beau, Senior Information Officer Europe,
NRC Global IDP Project; Erin Mooney, Deputy Director, Brookings-SAIS Project
on Internal Displacement; Gro Lindstad, NRC Resident Representative in
Croatia; and Julia Kharashvili, Chairperson of Georgia's IDP Women
Association.
