Temporary Lectureship in the Phonetic Sciences
University of Cambridge
The Department of Linguistics, University of Cambridge, proposes to appoint a temporary University Lecturer in the Phonetic Sciences. This non-renewable appointment will be for 3 years, from 1 October 2003 to 30 September 2006, to replace Dr. Sarah Hawkins, who has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship. The position involves teaching acoustic phonetics, experimental phonetics, speech perception, aspects of the biological and psychological foundations of speech, experimental design, and basic statistics, to second, third, and fourth-year undergraduates, and first-year graduate students taking the MPhil in Linguistics. The ability to teach widely in psycholinguistics would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to administration and to show achievement and potential in research and publication in the field. The salary will be determined at a grade not to exceed spine point 10 of the national scale (£24,121 p.a.).
Further particulars appear at http://www.mml.cam.ac.uk/jobs/. If you have any queries please contact the Linguistics Department Secretary, Dept of Linguistics, Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge CB3 9DA (e-mail [log in to unmask]). Applicants should send 8 copies of a detailed curriculum vitae to the Linguistics Department Secretary at the address given above by 28 April 2003, and should ask two referees to write directly by the same date. Interviews are expected to be held on Friday 16 May.
