http://www.ilrt.bris.ac.uk/news/conferences/colston2004
===============================================

This two-day Colston Research Symposium at the University of Bristol will
bring together researchers from a number of disciplines to consider (and
make use of) evolving technologies and modes of learning.

Over two days there will be four keynote sessions by:

Bonnie Nardi, Professor in the School of Information and Computer
Science at the University of California, Irvine, USA

Diana Laurillard, Head of the e-Learning Strategy Unit, Department for
Education and Skills, UK

Wendy Hall, Professor of Computer Science at the University
of Southampton, UK and

Eric Miller, Activity Lead for the W3C World
Wide Web Consortium's Semantic Web Initiative, USA

The conference format will provide for input, through paired paper
sessions, from diverse perspectives, followed by breakouts for
knowledge exchange. The broad themes of these include:

Community learning and information sharing
Personalised learning spaces
'Can technology learn for you?'
The evolution of standards

The discussion after each session will be recorded and delivered via a
range of the technologies being considered by the Symposium, for example
IRC, blogs, mobile devices, and be posted on the conference Web site.
Wireless Internet access will be available at the conference venue.

The conference includes a public lecture by Jonathon Drori (Director of
Culture Online, Department for Culture Media and Sport, previously Head of
Commissioning for BBC Online).

Full delegate fees for the two days including the conference dinner are 175
UK pounds, discounted fees for postgraduates and University of Bristol
staff are available at 135 pounds. A booking form and full details are
available at:
